Abstract

The Model Gut (The Model) is a ¿state of the art¿ in-vitro system that simulates human digestion for the first time from a true physiological perspective. It will become an invaluable tool for mechanistic, stability or absorption studies during product development within a number of economically important industries. Initial commercial exploitation will be aimed at Food Manufacturers, Policy Generators and the Pharmaceutical Developers where we have the innovative technology to impact into a number of key areas of new food and drug design. Within this project a business model will be developed so that the Model gut will generate significant business opportunities and future revenue by providing a cost-effective service to customers who have a need for in-depth information on the rate, site and extent of digestion of their food or pharmaceutical product.
