Abstract
The high-level objective is to develop appropriate, quality-assured methods to examine interactions between ecosystem and production functions in grassland landscapes. The major outcome is greatly enhanced national capacity to research environmental and production outcomes of current and innovative land management systems. This work is essential to test and monitor the functioning of agricultural landscapes using methods that are fit for purpose and cost effective. The particular objectives of the project are to: 1. Identify appropriate indicators of production and ecosystem function 2. Select appropriate protocols for monitoring these indicators for intensive and extensive research 3. Deliver environmental monitoring data to the Environmental Change Network
