Abstract

This BBSRC UK-India Partnering Award will provide a common platform for Brassica genetics and genomics underpinning crop improvement, with a focus on sustainable oil productivity in UK and India. The aims are to establish a series of exchange visits and workshops to identify specific opportunities for collaboration that will: 1) Improve the ability to navigate from oilseed crop trait loci to genome, exploiting reference resources in comparative genomics 2) Focus on key aspects of Brassica biology that contribute to deep understanding of crop traits 3) Develop the Multinational Brassica Genome Project and identify specific contributions from India for sequencing and/or other activities that are well integrated with ongoing UK activities. The activities planned will have a focus on improving the ability to navigate from oilseed crop trait loci to genome (QTL to gene), exploiting reference resources and comparative genomics. This will enable joint projects to be developed that capitalise on complementary and synergistic expertise and resources in India and the UK.
