Abstract
The objective of the proposed research is to develop a unified theory of insect flight patterns that accounts correctly for the observed and differing flight patterns of bumblebees, honeybees, butterflies and other insects. Flight pattern characteristics will then be related to insect flight capabilities and olfactory responses, to environmental such as the availability and distribution of forage, and to socio-biological factors such as the waggle dance.
