Abstract
This project will investigate: 1. seasonal fluctuations in microbial biomass phosphorus pool size in UK arable and grassland soils. 2. soil microbial phosphorus dynamics and phosphorus mineralization. 3. impact of organic matter incorporation on microbial phosphorus pool sizes. 4. effect of prolonged waterlogging on microbial community structure. 5. effects of hydrological events on microbial phosphorus dynamics and phosphorus transfer to water courses.
