Abstract
This work uses a multi-disciplinary approach to investigate the neural and molecular processes involved in cognition and behaviour. The work has two main strands. First, studies looking at how the brain works normally, concentrating on an important molecular mechanism that is triggered by calcium when the cells of the brain are activated. Our second emphasis is on abnormal brain functioning, especially in the context of age-related effects and problems that can arise from events occurring during early development.
