Abstract
Cells need to adapt their shape during processes like movement or phagocytosis. This changes involve many different aspects of the cells molecular machinery and must be appropriately and synchronously adjusted. This project is focussed on a family of molecules (ARAP) that are involved in the spatio/temporal synchronisation of shape change. Our hypothesis is that they cause simultaneous reduction in the local tension of the scaffold at the cell surface (enabling protusion to occur) with increased delivery of new membrane to the areas undergoing protusion.
