Abstract

A number of genes which are important for growth and development of babies in the womb are imprinted, that is only the paternal or the maternal gene is effective. We are studying a particular collection of these genes, which is located in the same chromosomal place. We are studying the complex regulation of these genes and their effects on increasing or decreasing the size of the fetus, both in mouse models and in humans where mutations or other defects in them are linked to fetal growth disorders and cancer.
