Abstract

We will develop and implement a grid-based platform for robust and rapid multiple trait mapping of interacting quantitative trait loci in simple and complex pedigrees, with a particular focus on high-throughput QTL analysis of gene expression array data (mapping eQTL). The existing QTL Express Java Servlet platform will be transformed to be grid compatible with novel methods for flexible workflow management and resource allocation, adding data persistence and detached execution. New approaches for multitrait and multiple QTL analysis in structured populations will be developed and tested using real and simulated data and implemented on the grid-base platform. This development on the grid provides an essential core component of a future integrated system incorporating genetic, phenotypic, transcription and comparative information to allow prediction from sequence to consequence.
