Abstract

We will build on our success in developing three Java-based applications that perform sophisticated visualisation and analyses. The techniques span analysis of DNA sequences to identify genetic recombination using phylogenetics (TOPALi), through protein sequence analysis to identify potential functional sites (JalView), to visualisation and analysis of molecular structure (AstexViewer@MSD-EBI.). We will enhance these tools by sharing data types through an OGSA-compliant SOAP interface and deploy Web services that will provide fast, object-based access to complex analyses. By enhancing existing, widely used tools we will maximise the impact on a broad scientific community and provide powerful applications for the bioinformatics Grid. (Joint with BBS/B/16542 and BBS/B16569).
