Abstract

We have devised a method to perform RNA interference (RNAi) in chicken embryos using PCR products. Using in silico subtraction we have identified a set of around 1000 chicken genes which are expressed in embryonic limbs and neural tube. We will use RNAi to knockdown expression of this genes set in the limb and neural tube and identify genes that are required for limb bud outgrowth and patterning and neural tube differentiation. We will also test the function of a collection of chicken microRNAs which we have identified using misexpression studies. This project will generate a resource of chicken RNAi PCR products and vectors which will be made available to the wider scientific community via ARK Genomics. (Joint with BBS/B/13578)
