Abstract

Robotic systems are used to perform crystallisation experiments in high-throughput structural genomics centres and are now becoming increasingly routine in smaller laboratories. These robots are capable of producing many thousands of experiments each day and purely visual inspection of the results of these experiments will become impossible. Imaging systems are now being developed and software for analysis of the images is vital. A method to automatically evaluate images from crystallisation experiments is being developed and initial tests show great promise. However much work still needs to be done in order to provide robust and reliable software.
