Abstract

This is a proposal to create a suite of computing and validation tools for circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy and a deposition data bank for validated CD spectra (the PCDDB) linked to the RCSB Protein Data Bank. It is a natural extension of the earlier bioinformatics work of the BBSRC Centre for Protein and Membrane Structure and Dynamics (CPMSD), which created DICHROWEB, a secondary structure analysis resource that has found wide use in the UK (and international) CD community. The data processing and checking software described in this proposal will provide tools for CD which parallel CCP4 and CCPN initiatives in crystallography and NMR, and the PCDDB will form a bioinformatics and archiving resource for the structural biology community.
