Abstract

Brassinosteroid (BRs) are plant steroid hormones that are essential for normal plant architecture. BRs have been implicated in increased yield and stress tolerance but it is not known where and when they are synthesised or their mode of action. Using tomato as the model system, this project aims to identify where BR production occurs with an emphasis on flower and fruit development. Such work will enable models to be developed that indicate methods of how BR synthesis can be used to improve crop yield and quality in tomato.
