Summary
One of the main platforms in Life Sciences research is liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (LC-MS). LC-MS can measure many 1000s of biomolecules concurrently, particular proteins and chemicals (metabolites). These approaches are used to understand the basic function of cells, tissues and organs, as well as changes occurring in disease processes. LC-MS produces very large and complex data files, and current visualisation software is lacking. Across multiple experiments, it is also a challenge to manage large data sets and ask intelligent questions. In this application, we are going to develop commercial grade and user friendly software for visualisation and database storage of LC-MS data, to assist laboratories working in this area, called lcmsWorld.
