Abstract

Developmental biology and genetics research groups in Sheffield are engaged in a broad range of research projects in the biomolecular sciences area at an internationally competitive level, and this application is a request for a state-of-the-art, high throughout, real-time epifluoresence microscope system to support this work. Projects include studies into the fundamental biology of human embryonic stem cells, genetic stability of human embryonic stem cells, lineage segregation in stem cells and organisms. All of these projects will benefit from the range of new experiments which can be performed by the instrument requested and which are not currently possible using the microscopy systems currently available in the faculty of medicine.
