Abstract

This research aims at understanding how plants control the size of their component cells and how endoreduplication contributes to this process. Building on my recent discovery of the plant DNA topoisomerase VI (topo VI) complex, I will investigate how cells replicate chromosomes during endoreduplication and what controls this process. By conducting novel genetic and chemical genetic screens, I will identify new molecules and pathways involved in the control of endoreduplication and cell size in plants.
