Abstract
This project aims to exploit recent conclusions from a long-standing investigation pyrethrum extract and related synthetic analogues at Rothamsted Research on the unique properties of pyrethrum extract. The research will lead to the: development of value-added products (for established applications) e.g. pre-harvest clean-up; enhancement of the effectiveness of other established natural and synthetic insecticides; identification of new applications (e.g. improving the effectiveness of biological control agents); developing/enhancing resistance-management strategies. This project will specifically benefit from the in-house experience of separation technologies in the isolation/enrichment of pyrethrin extract and the close collaboration on counter-current technology with AECS.
