Abstract

A series of annual workshops will be established bringing together public and private sector scientists working on the genetics, genomics and improvement of small grain cereals (wheat, barley, oats) in the UK. A website and electronic newsletter will be established and exchanges of scientists between laboratories supported. The aim is to be provide integration and co-ordination of research, including the development of joint programmes and the development and maintenance of genetic and genomic resources and databases. It will also provide an effective channel for providing information and advice to BBSRC and other funding bodies. Liaison and technology transfer to industry will be promoted via meetings and exchanges of scientific staff.
