Abstract

1) To develop a coherent mathematical theory for dynamics of plant disease in a changing agricultural landscape to take account of invasion, persistence and variability at the local, regional, national and international scales. 2) Extend the analyses to include fungicide, antibiotic and pesticide resistance to transgenic crops. 3) Test the theory using data for invasion of pathogens including breakdown of genetic and chemical resistance. 4) Use the theory to propose deployment strategies for sustainable disease control by genetical and chemical control.
