Abstract

These can be divided between rat and human studies. The main goal of the rat studies is to dissociate between the roles of the medial and lateral mammillary nuclei using several techniques including lesion, gene imaging, and single-cell recording. This will make it possible to determine whether these two nuclei have different functional roles or whether these functions summate. The aim of the human study is to identify a number of patients with mammillary body damage in order to determine whether damage to this structure correlates with memory impairment in humans.
