Abstract
The Grid is a vast and complex computational resource that is uniquely challenging to manage and visualise. We propose developing a Grid management suite in ZigZag ¿ a novel hypertext system that represents complex information in terms of dimensions of associations. This provides a sophisticated visualisation capability with a uniquely powerful programming paradigm. The development of this system will allow an interactive environment to be built that provides a full and rich visualisation of both the biological systems and the bioinformatics processes involved. This will ease information management, and allow both directed and serendipitous discovery of novel ways of interacting with the Grid. We propose testing this system using a simulation of the interaction between streptavidin and biotin as a model.
