Abstract

In the post-genomic era there is a requirement for the high throughput production of recombinant proteins for a variety of purposes including expression analysis of sequenced genomes and structure-function analysis of medically important proteins. To date automated high throughput expression systems have been limited to those systems using bacterial cells. Although this serves the requirements for some proteins, many require a eukaryotic host cell to produce authentic proteins. In this project we aim to develop for the first time, an automated high throughput system for the production of recombinant proteins in insect (eukaryotic) cells using novel baculovirus expression vectors.
