Abstract

This project concerns the preparation and delivery of a short course in bioinformatics for BBSRC-funded research scientists. The duration of the course will be one week and it will be delivered twice during a three-year period, for a cohort of up to fifteen students on each occasion. Participants will receive a complete set of materials on CD-ROM at the end of the course. In addition, post-course support will be provided via an electronic conference on the WWW. The course will cover sequence analysis, structural bioinformatics, databases, data archival, retrieval and recovery, functional genomics and proteomics. Part of the course will be devoted to the solution of bioinformatics problems of interest to the participants in the course arising from their own research. There will also be a programme of seminars.
