Abstract

We wish to apply our successful modular approach to the construction of self- replicating systems to design and synthesise a new series of minimal self-replicating systems. The investigation of the kinetic behaviour of these new self-replicators will give a fundamental understanding of the basic physical organic chemistry of replicating systems and allow us to undertake recombination experiments, based on the replicators synthesised here, in order to assess the effectiveness of molecular scale select processes. Additionally, we will extend and enhance our computer-base kinetic and molecular modelling and analysis techniques to enable the facile interpretation and rationalisation of the experimental data collected during the programme.
