Abstract

Continued support is requested for the circular dichroism (CD) facility at Stirling; the facility plays an integral role in a large number of projects within five distinct research themes: (a) Protein folding and stability (leading projects - shikimate pathway enzymes; allergenic proteins); (b) multidomain proteins (leading projects - flavocytochrome BM3, folding and assembly of 2-oxoacid dehydrogenase complexes; (c) synthetic peptides and proteins (leading projects - 4 recognition, glycoproteins, helical transitions); (d) membrane proteins (leading projects - bacterial light harvesting complexes, myelin proteins); (e) Protein/nucleic acid interactions (leading project - type 1 restriction/modification systems, base flipping).
