Abstract
To establish the roles of sarcolipin (SLN) and anionic phospholipids in ensuring tight coupling between ATP hydrolysis and Ca accumulation by the Ca-ATPase of sarcoplasmic reticulum; to define any effects of SLN on ATPase activity; to define residues on SLN important for interaction with the ATPase; to measure the strength of the SLN-ATPase interaction as a function of SLN and phospholipid structure; and to locate the binding site for SLN on the ATPase, relative to other defined sites.
