Abstract

A structure-function study at atomic resolution very often provides the key for understanding complex processes involved in catalysis and regulation of an enzyme; and denitrification is no exception. Structural studies of copper nitrite reductase when bound to substrate, inhibitor or donor proteins are proposed to answer questions of the fundamental importance to denitrification and biological electron transfer. These studies will build on our recent crystallographic structure determinations of a new azurin and the first blue copper nitrite reductase.
