Abstract

(i) To optimise the separation of catalytic from non-catalytic IgG in polyclonal preparations achieved in preliminary work (Seedcorn grant and subsequently); (ii) To evaluate kinetically and by chemical modification fractionated and non-fractionated catalytic IgG to test the hypothesis arising from our published work that polyclonal IgG may be a particularly valuable source of highly effective novel catalysts which may be functionally homogeneous, and (iii) To contribute to our understanding of the types of chemical catalysis that are recruited by catalytic antibodies and their modulation by variation in immunogen structure.
