Abstract

i) To determine the three-dimensional structure of di-manganese catalase at high resolution and thus to provide a basis for the interpretation of current spectroscopic data and to stimulate new, functional studies; ii) to compare the structures of di-Mn catalase and other proteins with dinuclear metal sites (eg ferritins, ribonucleotide reductase, di-Mn arginase) with the aim of elucidating structure-function relationships; iii) to crystallise recombinant human iron regulatory protein and E. coli aconitase for X-ray analysis.
