Abstract
Recently we have established that a Michaelis-Arbusov reaction between a nucleoside 5'- phosphite and nucleoside 3'-disulphide is by far the most efficient and versatile method for the synthesis of nucleotide 3'-S-phosphorothiolates. We now wish to explore the potential of this type of Arbusov reaction in 3 ways:- (i) for the synthesis of oligodeoxyribonucleotides containing multiple 3'-S-phosphorothiolate linkages; (ii) for the synthesis of oligoribonucleotides containing 3'-S-phosphorothiolate linkages; (iii) for the synthesis of phosphorothiolate analogues of cAMP.
