Abstract
1. Calculate the pi-pi interactions in single base-pair steps for all possible combinations of base-pairs in all possible conformations. 2. Calculate the conformational restrictions imposed by the backbone. 3. Determine low energy conformations for longer DNA sequences. 4. Use these calculations to investigate the molecular basis of sequence-specific DNA recognition by proteins and drugs.
