Abstract

The focus of the proposed research is to understand, at the molecular level, the nature and stability of partly-folded proteins. Interleukin-4 and a-lactalbumin will be used as model systems for detailed NMR study. A range of partly-folded states with different degrees of native interactions will be generated by subjecting these two proteins to mildly denaturing conditions. The methodologies developed for the model system will be applied to other proteins.
