Abstract

Large-scale transcriptional analysis of gene sets in developing and differentiating tissues can indicate the function of transcripts in different cell types. Such gene sets available for human and mouse tissues through expressed sequence tag (EST) analysis of mRNA populations, but are poorly developed for large farm animals. However, the close genetic relationship between human and pig can be exploited for cross-species analysis. In this project, a subtracted human testis set of 1300 genes will be used to investigate their expression in pre and post pubertal pig testis. This will be done using micro array technology.
