Abstract

We propose to investigate whether the novel mechanism of cavelae-mediated uptake of respiratory syncytial virus by cattle dendritic cells, that we have recently established, influences the type of immune response that is generated. Thus, can the immune response be manipulated by changing the route of entry of virus into the cell so that (1) a different sub- cellular compartment is targeted or (2) the response of the dendritic cell is changed and (3) the immune response induced is changed. Any could potentially change the type of response that is generated in vivo and consequently affect subsequent immunity.
