Abstract

The aim of the project will be to identify Arabidopsis mutants that are defective in their response to cold temperature. Fusions will be made to genes from two different cold- responsive pathways (acclimation and vernalisation) and a transformant selected showing correct cold-regulate expression of both genes. Mutants with altered cold- responsiveness in either one or both genes will be then identified. The study will address whether there is a global cold-temperature sensor in plants or whether cold-temperature is sensed independently in different processes.
