Abstract

This project will attempt protein folding from sequence, by motif recognition using threading. The project will use a library of supersecondary motifs (e.g. beta hairpins, beta alpha beta units) and develop software to thread a new sequence (or multiple sequence alignment) against the library of motifs. Each hit will be scored and the fold then constructed by combining the motifs into tertiary folds, using heuristic rules derived from known structures.
