Abstract
This work addresses some of the questions that have been asked after the discovery of the structures of bacterial photosynthetic light-harvesting proteins. The project aims to prepare and characterise molecules that contain a supramolecular circular array of pi-stacked porphyrin-derived molecules. The new molecules will be subject to ultra-fast spectroscopic experiments to determine the physical and chemical properties of the electronic excited state.
