Abstract

This project will investigate imaging of the density variations within a food sample using inelastically scattered X-rays. The scientific challenges associated with multiply scattered X- ray photons, attenuation within the sample and partial collimination will be addressed. The work will draw conclusions on the possible density and spatial resolution of the images as a function of the inspection time and will culminate in the design of a suitable sensor system.
