Abstract
The within-morphospecies diversity of fungal plant pathogens is striking. The epidemiological and ecological causes for the divergence of subgroups from a common fungal ancestor are largely unknown. This project aims at developing a novel strategy to study evolutionary branching of fungal plant pathogens using adaptive dynamics methodology. The project aims at finding key ecological and evolutionary mechanisms operating in fungal plant pathogen populations that can explain the high degree of within- morphospecies divergence.
